Heating
When it comes to Heating your Home or Business, a variety of technologies are available, the most common system
types however, are either furnaces or boilers. Furnaces heat air and distribute the heated air through
the house using ducts, boilers heat water, providing either hot water or steam for heating.
From basic system maintenance and repairs, to the replacement of your existing furnace, or the design and installation
of a complete system, including duct work and piping, we have a solution.
As much as half of the energy used in your home goes to Heating & cooling. So making smart decisions about your home's
Heating System can have a big effect on your utility bills — and your comfort. We carry a complete line of Energy Star
qualified equipment, with many systems qualifying for the $1,500 Federal Tax Credit on energy efficient systems.
System Types
Forced Air
Forced Air Heating Systems are by far the most common in this area. With this type of system air is warmed by a Furnace or
Heat Pump and distributed through ad duct system by a blower.
Warm Air can be generated by a Gas or Oil Furnace, an Air Source Heat Pump, or a Geothermal Heat Pump System.
Advantages
- Can Be Used For Both Heating & Cooling
- Air Can Be Humidified To Improve Comfort
- Air Can Be Dehumidified If Required
- Air Can Be Filtered To Remove Dust, Pollen, Pollutants
- Forced Air Heating Systems Can Achieve High Efficiencies
We carry a complete line of Forced Air Furnaces from all of the leading Manufacturers, including the Lennox G71MPP
Variable Capacity Gas Furnace, the quietest furnace you can buy - and one of the most efficient available.
Hot Water
Hot Water Heating Systems were the system of choice until the popularity of Central A/C took over. In these systems water
is heated by a Boiler and distributed by pipes to individual Heating Units.
Modern Oil Fired Boilers can have efficiencies in the mid to upper 80% AFUE range, with gas boilers having efficiencies as
high as 95% AFUE.
Advantages
- Generally More Comfortable Than Forced Air Systems
- Easily Zoned For Room-By-Room Temperature Control
- Boiler Can Generate High Volumes of Potable Hot Water
- Can Be Used For Supplemental Heating Like Floor Warming
We offer both Oil Fired, and Gas Fired Boilers from leading manufacturers like Lennox, Weil-McLain, Triangle Tube and
many more. Our experience in Boiler Repair and Replacement goes back many years, insuring you that when you call us
you'll always get - "Service You Can Count On".
Steam
Steam Heating is one of the oldest heating technologies, but the process of boiling and condensing water is inherently less
efficient than more modern system types.
There are two basic type of Steam Heating Systems, 1-Pipe and 2-Pipe systems. In one pipe systems steam is supplied and
condensate returned in the same pipe, these can be identified by the fact that the Radiators will have only one pipe
and valve which will be located close to the floor. 2-Pipe systems, as the name implies with have a pipe on both sides of
the Radiator and either a Steam Trap or some other type of orifice to prevent the movement of Steam into the return piping
system.
There are many factors that go into replacing an existing steam boiler with a new modern unit. Correctly sized "Near Boiler
Piping" and water volume calculations are critical in insuring that your new boiler will operate correctly with the existing
piping system.
Radiant
Radiant Heating Systems involve supplying heat directly to a surface, such as the floor, wall or ceiling of a building. These
systems transfer radiant energy directly from the warm surface to people and objects in the room via the radiation of heat,
which is also called infrared radiation.
Radiant Heating is the effect you feel when you can feel the warmth of the Sun on a cold day. When radiant heating is located
in the floor, it is often called radiant floor heating or simply floor heating.
Advantages
- The Most Comfortable Form of Space Heating
- More Efficient Than Either Forced Air or Hot Water Heating
- Are Easily Incorporated Into A Thermal Solar Heating System
We have extensive experience, going back many years, in the Design and Installation of Radiant Heating Systems. We offer products
by leading manufacturers like Viega, Uponor (Wirsbo), Rehau and Zurn.
