Under the provisions of the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Federal Government established national standards for safe drinking water, which are enforced by the Environmental Protection Agency. Under this act, water providers like Local Governments and WSSC are responsible for delivering to you, safe, clean drinking water without there being the chance that it's the quality can be compromised by its delivery through the distribution system.

In the implementation of this responsibility, your water provider must take reasonable precautions to protect the community distribution system from hazards originating in the homes and businesses of its customers that may degrade the system.

One example of this responsibility is a Cross Connection Control Program which is authorized to monitor, inspect, investigate and survey all known and potential cross connection to the public water supply system, both on public and private property.

A critical part of the program is the testing and maintenance of Backflow Prevention Devices. These devices are commonly found on Residential and Commercial Fire Sprinker Systems, Lawn Irrigation Systems, and Residential and Commercial Boilers. Having your back-flow preventr tested is important not only to comply with the law, but also for the protection of your family, since there are over 10,000 reported cases of backflow contamination each year, some of which are fatal.

In order to comply with this type of program, it is usually the responsibility of the property owner to maintain all back-flow preventers by having them tested annually and having them rebuilt, or replaced, every 5 years.

We offer complete Back-Flow Device compliance program to insure you protect the health and safety of your family, as well as avoid fines by being compliance with with all local laws and regulations. This included testing and certifying your device, as well as, rebuilding or replacing it, if required.
